This Privacy Policy explains how Quotem (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use our website, web app, and the Quotem mobile apps (which display this website) at https://quotem.co.za/.
Quotem is a quote marketplace that connects people who need work done (clients) with service providers (businesses) in South Africa. This policy should be read with our Terms and Conditions.
Quotem is operated by Budhigg Holdings (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2026/502523/07), 5 Kew Mews, Kew Garden Lane, Cape Town, 7441, South Africa, which is the responsible party for your personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

Depending on how you use Quotem, we may collect:
We do not intentionally collect special personal information. Please don’t include sensitive details you don’t need to share in quote descriptions or attachments.
We process personal information to perform our agreement with you, to comply with legal obligations, and for our legitimate interests in running a safe marketplace. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
We share information only as needed to run Quotem, with:
We don’t use your information for third-party advertising. If we add analytics tools, we will update this policy to name them.
The Quotem iOS and Android apps load the Quotem website, so the same account, quote, location, and cookie practices apply inside the apps. You can turn push notifications off at any time in your phone’s settings.
You can delete your account yourself at any time inside Quotem: sign in, open My Profile (clients) or Profile (businesses), and choose Delete my account. You can also ask us by email. See Delete your Quotem account for what is removed and what we must keep.
We use cookies and similar storage that are necessary for the site to work, including login, session and security cookies. You can control cookies in your browser settings, but disabling necessary cookies may stop you from signing in.
We keep account and marketplace data while your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, quote requests or quote responses, uploaded files, and notifications are deleted straight away. Records of paid orders are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires (generally five years), and server logs and backups are overwritten on their normal cycle.
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections and hashed passwords. No online service is completely secure; please use a strong password and keep it private.
Under POPIA you may ask to access, correct, or delete your personal information, object to certain processing, and withdraw consent. Email support@quotem.co.za; we may need to verify your identity first.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa): inforegulator.org.za, POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za.
Quotem is for adults (18+) who can enter into service agreements. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Some of our service providers (for example Google) may process data outside South Africa. Where that happens, we rely on providers that are bound by data protection laws or agreements offering protection similar to POPIA.
We may update this policy from time to time and will change the “Last updated” date above. If a change is significant, we will let you know on the site or by email.

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) apply to your use of the Quotem website, web app and mobile apps (together, “Quotem”). By creating an account or using Quotem you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Quotem.

Quotem is an online marketplace where clients post requests for quotes and independent businesses respond with quotes. Quotem is not a party to any agreement between a client and a business. We don’t perform, supervise, or guarantee the work, and businesses on Quotem are not our employees or agents. Any contract for work, including price, scope, timing, warranties and payment, is between the client and the business.
Business access is currently free as part of our early-access offer. If we introduce paid plans, the price, billing period and what is included will be shown before you buy, and you will only be charged if you choose to subscribe. Subscriptions are bought on the Quotem website, renew automatically until cancelled, and can be cancelled at any time with effect from the end of the current billing period. Nothing in these Terms limits any cooling-off or refund rights you have under the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act or the Consumer Protection Act.
You must not:
You keep ownership of what you post (quote requests, responses, photos, logos). You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display and process that content to run Quotem. You confirm you have the right to share it. We may remove content that breaks these Terms.
We may review content, decline or remove listings, and suspend or close accounts that break these Terms or put users at risk. You can close your account at any time from your profile. See Delete your Quotem account.
Quotem uses third-party services such as Google Maps. Your use of those features is also subject to the providers’ terms. If you downloaded the Quotem app from the Apple App Store, Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to the app itself; Apple is not responsible for Quotem or its content and has no obligation to provide support for it.
We work to keep Quotem available and accurate, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we don’t guarantee that Quotem will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any business, client, quote or job will meet your expectations.
To the extent the law allows, Budhigg Holdings (Pty) Ltd is not liable for work done or not done by businesses, disputes between users, or indirect or consequential loss. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the fees (if any) you paid us in the three months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under the Consumer Protection Act or other law, including for gross negligence or fraud.
To the extent the law allows, you agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your breach of these Terms, your content, or work you offer or commission through Quotem.
We may update these Terms from time to time and will change the “Last updated” date above. If a change is significant, we will let you know on the site or by email. Continuing to use Quotem after an update means you accept the new Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve any complaint. Otherwise, the South African courts have jurisdiction.
